I was born and raised locally in Silver Spring, MD. From the age of three to six I attended Casa de Montessori and it was here that my love of learning was ignited. I have wonderful memories from my years at Casa where I had the privilege of having my grandmother, Betty Burkhardt, as my guide.
I graduated from Towson University in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. The following year, I taught kindergarten in the Baltimore City Public School system. Although I loved my experience in the public school system, I knew that I belonged at Casa and began my training at the Washington Montessori Institute in 2016.
Now that I have completed my training, I can truly appreciate the freedom I was granted at Casa and understand the importance of the Montessori philosophy in cultivating children’s early educational experiences. I am excited to return to Casa and fulfill this new role as a guide.
